In July 2002, data from the nationwide Women’s Health Initiative rocked the field of women’s health. It found that the risks of cancer and other serious side effects in estrogen treatment far outweighed the benefits. In her new book, “The Greatest Experiement Ever Performed on Women: Exploding the Estrogen Myth,” Barbara Seaman details the history of hormone use and the manipulation of doctors by drug companies to keep women on a dangerous and potentially deadly drug regimen.Following her appearance on NBC’s Today show, Seaman joined MSNBC.com to talk to our readers.
