Congratulations to Tom Gubala of Bellevue, Wash., our first It’s A Snap! two-time winner. Gubala captured the image on an August hike at Mount Rainer in Washington state.
The Boeing retiree and a friend hiked along the Naches Peak Loop Trail at Chinook Pass with flashlights in the early-morning dark to see Mount Rainier at sunrise.
The photo “is a result of three exposures — one normal, one overexposed and one underexposed — and then I use software to digitally blend them together,” Gubala said.
The hardcore photo hobbyist used HDRsoft.com’s, Photomatix feature for the winning shot.
