Price of  gas up nearly 5 cents in last two weeks

The average price of regular gasoline in the United States has climbed nearly five cents over a two-week period to $2.76.

The average price of regular gasoline in the United States has climbed nearly five cents over a two-week period to $2.76.

That's according to the national Lundberg Survey of fuel prices released Sunday.

Analyst Trilby Lundberg says the average price for a gallon of mid-grade was $2.91. Premium was at $3.02.

Charleston, S.C., had the lowest average price among cities surveyed at $2.49 a gallon for regular. San Francisco was highest at $3.14.

Diesel was at $3.02, up just over one cent from two weeks ago.

In California, the average price for a gallon of regular was up about five cents to $3.08.

Bakersfield had the state's least expensive gas at $2.98 a gallon.
