MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 4, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lightbridge Corporation (Nasdaq:LTBR), the leading innovator of advanced nuclear fuel designs and a provider of nuclear energy consulting services to commercial and governmental organizations, today will have a closed meeting with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

During the meeting, Lightbridge will discuss its all-metal fuel technology for increased power output and thorium-based seed-and-blanket fuel designs. Additionally, the Company will discuss plans for analytical and experimental work to support a regulatory licensing process leading to lead test assembly testing, a full-scale demonstration of its fuel in an operational, light water reactor.

Participants from the NRC include members of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NNR), Office of New Reactors (NRO), Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES), who will meet with members of Lightbridge's management team.
