ORANGE, Calif., Nov. 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a Southern California charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced the launch of its 2010 holiday fundraising and gift-giving campaign, entitled 'Be an Angel for Our Kids.' The campaign runs through December 31.

Starting now, individuals and corporations can make cash donations at . Starting on December 1, Canyon Acres will begin accepting gift cards for children and families in the agency's care. Funds raised will support Canyon Acres' cutting-edge programs like Creating Family Connections (CFC), the Incredible Years Parenting Education Classes and our new REACH Program.

"The Holiday Season is one of the most important times for Canyon Acres' children to experience the warmth and support that has been absent for so much of their lives," said Harald Herrmann, Chairman of the Board of Canyon Acres. "Now, more than ever, Canyon Acres relies on the community to aid the agency on its mission to provide hope, care and love for the children who need it most."

The year 2010 marks Canyon Acres' 30th anniversary. The agency considers the milestone an opportunity to intensify its existing programs and to more aggressively pursue the innovation in treatment responsible for its distinguished history of stability and growth. One of Canyon Acres' most unique programs is CFC, which searches for and engages long-lost family members of children who have been in the child welfare system for many years.

Canyon Acres also recently announced two new programs. The Incredible Years is an ongoing educational series for parents looking for strategies and proven methods to ensure their children's social, emotional and academic competence. REACH, an acronym for Responding, Educating, Achieving, Caring and Healing, has the exclusive goal of finding foster and adoptive homes for children with special medical needs and/or children who are developmentally disabled.
