Actor and social media enthusiast Ashton Kutcher is the latest in a long line of celebrities to have his Twitter account hacked.

The breach occurred yesterday (March 2) while the “Punk’d” star was attending the TED 2011 Conference in Long Beach, Calif., the security firm Sophos reported.

The online prankster compromised Kutcher’s @aplusk account, posting a message to his nearly 6.4 million followers that read, “Ashton, you’ve been Punk’d. This account is not secure. Dude, where’s my SSL?”

SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer, is a security protoco l that protects Internet communications.

A second message by the hacker read, “P.S. This is for those young protesters around the world who deserve not to have their Facebook & Twitter accounts hacked like this. #SSL.”

Kutcher’s Twitter misfortune places him in the company of celebrities including Lil Wayne, Kim Kardashian, Axl Rose and Britney Spears, all of whom have had their Twitter accounts hijacked in the past.
