Rapper Awkwafina will join the cast of "Neighbors 2," the sequel to the 2014 comedy starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, and Rose Byrne.

"I'm really excited and honored to be a part of this film," Awkwafina told NBC News Tuesday after the announcement. "[I] was always a huge fan of Nick Stoller's work. A lot of Asian people are on college campuses, so it's really nice to be a part of a film that accurately represents that."

The New York native, born Nora Lum, will reportedly be part of the sorority led by Chloe Grace Moretz's character.

Born and raised in Queens, Awkwafina is best known for viral songs like "My Vag" and "NYC Bitche$." In 2014, she was added to the cast of MTV's "Girl Code."

“You can’t really label me as a musician, a comedian, or a rapper—you know, it’s different. I think the people get that I’m just kind of an anomaly in a certain way," Awkwafina told NBC News last year.

"Neighbors 2" is scheduled to be released in theaters May 2016.
