World's Best Restaurant Is in Spain, Fourth Is In Peru: New List

A restaurant from Girona, Spain reigns as the world’s best restaurant and one in Lima, Peru is ranked number four on the list.

El Celler de Can Roca was voted the world's best restaurant. It's among seven in Spain and nine in Latin America that made The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2015 list.

Three brothers in the region of Catalonia founded El Celler in 1986, which has a five-star rating on Trip Advisor. It also won the number one spot of the list in 2013.

Spain tops the list of countries with the most "best restaurants," according to the list.

The 50 Best Award, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, announced six other Spanish restaurants on the list, Mugaritz, in San Sebastián, which came in at number 6, as well as the restaurants Tickets, Quique DaCosta, Azurmendi, Arzak, and Asador Etzebarri.

Also on the list are three restaurants from Lima, Peru.

Central, which came in 4th place on the list, celebrates Peru’s biodiversity and ancient Andean heritage.

Astrid y Gaston and Maido made fourteenth and forty-forth place on the list respectively.

Mexico City is home to three restaurants on the list, Pujol, Quintonil, and Biko.

Borago, from Santiago Chile was in 42nd place for its ultra-contemporary style of food.

Brazil took two spots on the list with D.O.M. in 6th place, known for it’s authentic Brazilian cuisine in a contemporary way, and Mani in 41st place. Mani’s chef Helena Rizzo was named Veuve Clicquot Latin America’s Best Female Chef in 2013.
