Abigail Hernandez, the New Hampshire teen who mysteriously vanished for nine months, suffered "numerous acts of unspeakable violence' at the hands of her alleged kidnapper, her lawyer said in a statement.

In a post Wednesday on BringAbbyHome.com, lawyer Michael Coyne wrote that Hernandez "was violently abducted by a stranger. For many months, she suffered numerous acts of unspeakable violence. Through her faith, fortitude and resilience, she is alive today and home with her family." The post requests that Hernandez be given space and privacy.

Abigail was 14 when she disappeared Oct. 9 on the way home from high school — the now-15-year-old came home July 20. Nathaniel Kibby, 34, of Gorham was charged on July 28 with kidnapping Hernandez, and is being held on $1 million bail. Coyne told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he "would expect that there will be further charges consistent with the evidence in the case."
