Tennessee is the place the be.
For the sixth time ever — and second time in 2016 — a lottery player in the Volunteer State has won the Powerball jackpot, this time scoring a staggering prize of $420.9 million.
Lottery officials said Saturday after the draw that the single winning ticket beat 292 million-to-1 odds, netting the 11-largest jackpot on record.

The biggest Powerball prize in history came in earlier this year at a cool $1.6 billion, and was divided among three winning tickets in January. One of those lucky ticket-holders again hailed from Tennessee: the Robinson family, who took home a lump sum payment of $327.8 million.
So who is Tennessee’s newest Powerball winner? It’s still a mystery. The only clue that the state lottery has given so far is that the ticket was sold in Lafayette, in Macon County.
In a statement Sunday, Tennessee Lottery officials advised the as-yet unknown jackpot winner to sign the back of the ticket, keep it in a secure location, consult with a financial adviser and call the Lottery’s headquarters in Nashville. The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize.
