A quick-acting South Carolina cop saved a driver from a car engulfed in flames in an amazing rescue caught on police cruiser dashcam.

Cpl. Adam Willis of the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the burning car at 4:35 a.m. ET Saturday in the parking lot of a local bar and restaurant, according to a news release.

"When I first got there the flame was pretty big, so I couldn't really see in there," Willis told NBC affiliate WCBD.

Willis grabbed a fire extinguisher from his car and began snuffing out the flames. At that moment, he noticed someone in the front seat holding the steering wheel.

"The only thing I was thinking in my mind was please don't be dead," Willis said.

He pulled the driver, who became conscious, from the car, and the pair ran to safety. The unidentified male was taken to the hospital and released. He was described as extremely intoxicated, according to WCBD.

"Corporal Willis’ quick actions saved the man from serious injury and possible death," the news release said.
