Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee departs Wednesday on a 10-day trip to Poland, England, and California -- further evidence suggesting that the winner of the 2008 Republican Iowa caucuses is dipping his toes into the 2016 presidential waters.
The travel -- billed as the "Mike Huckabee's Reagan, Thatcher, Pope John Paul II Tour" -- was announced by Huckabee's new non-profit group, America Takes Action. The travel -- billed as the "Mike Huckabee's Reagan, Thatcher, Pope John Paul II Tour" -- was announced by Huckabee's new non-profit group, America Takes Action. And this trip includes a group of more than 100 pastors and leaders from Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. (Guess what those states in have common!)
The Washington Post, which first reported on Huckabee's travel, also reports that the former GOP governor is set to meet with deep-walleted Republican donors later this month. And in January, the Post adds, Huckabee is set to release a new book, "God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy."
With Huckabee taking these steps, the liberal group Media Matters has called on Fox News to suspend Huckabee's contract with the news channel.
