It's no secret that Frances Bean Cobain didn't exactly have the glamorous, easy childhood that kids of celebrities are often afforded. Her father, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, committed suicide when she was still a toddler, and mom Courtney Love publicly battled addiction.
And when Francis Bean was 17, she filed a request for a temporary restraining order against her mother after a fight. Now, her sealed 2009 deposition has come to light in a new e-book from TheFix.com in partnership with Barnes and Nobles' Sterling Publishing.
In a sworn statement to the court published in "Courtney Comes Clean," Frances Bean claimed that her mother was not only hooked on prescription drugs, but that the Hole frontwoman's issues led to the death of their cat and dog.
"She basically exists now on ... Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Abilify, sugar and cigarettes," the teenager told the judge of her mother, according to the documents obtained by TheFix. Frances Bean also said that their dog died after ingesting Love's pills.
As for her cat? According to Frances Bean's deposition, it passed away because it became entangled in trash, boxes and piles of fabric.
The formerly unpublished documents also revealed that she claimed her mother once dragged her to a boyfriend's house in the middle of the night, screamed from outside the home and "threatened to burn the house down," all while the man's children were inside.
Reps for Love have not yet responded to a request for comment.
The judge in the case granted Frances Bean's request for the restraining order, and the teen was placed in a temporary guardianship with her paternal grandmother and an aunt.
Despite her famous and troubled parents, Frances Bean has maintained a low profile and has appeared in the spotlight sporadically. She recently appeared in portraits by Rocky Schenk and Hedi Slimane. She also became engaged to musician Isaiah Silva late last year.
