On the hit sitcom “Modern Family,” now in its fifth season, the goofy patriarch of the Dunphy family sells Southern California real estate when he’s not navigating family life with his wife and their three kids.
Now the family’s fictional home is for sale for $2.35 million. The two-story home plays a starring role in the show, featuring Tyler “Ty” Burrell and Julie Bowen as Phil and Claire Dunphy. The new owner could collect a fee from ABC Studios in exchange for exterior filming for the show, said listing agent Mitch Hagerman of Coldwell Banker Previews International.
“In the beginning, the interior was used for a bit” in the show, he said. “Later, the interiors were recreated in studio sets.”
Hagerman wouldn’t say how much the new owners could collect for their home’s role on-screen, but he said it was enough to make a dent in the mortgage.
The remodeled traditional home is being marketed as the perfect home for some other family. Located in the Cheviot Hills neighborhood on L.A.’s West Side, it has four en suite bedrooms and 4.5 baths, with a private balcony off the master suite upstairs, overlooking the garden.
Downstairs, it has a fireplace and formal dining room off the kitchen, which features marble countertops and a stainless Viking range.
