R-Braves fall to Charlotte 8-2

Tony Torcato went 3-for-5 with two R-B-Is and Sean Tracey pitched seven shutout innings to lead Charlotte to an 8-to-2 win over Richmond.

Torcato's single in the fourth scored Pedro Lopez, who had walked to start the inning. Torcato drove in Lopez again in a three-run sixth.

Tracey (5-2) struck out four, walked three and allowed three hits.

Torcato came home when Jerry Owens grounded out in the third to put the Knights on the board. Jorge Velandia followed with an R-B-I-double. Ryan Sweeney and Chris Stewart each had an RBI in the sixth. Casey Rogowski doubled in two runs in the ninth.

The Braves got both their runs in the ninth when Scott Thorman homered to begin the inning then Cesar Crespo's ground ball to left field scored Michael Ryan, who had doubled.

Wayne Franklin (1-3) allowed three runs on four hits in three-and-two-thirds innings for the loss.
