U.S. sailor gets life term for Japan slaying

A U.S. sailor has received a life sentence for killing a Japanese taxi driver, Japan's foreign ministry said Thursday.

A U.S. sailor has received a life sentence for killing a Japanese taxi driver, Japan's foreign ministry said Thursday.

The ministry said Thursday Olatunbosun Ugbogu was sentenced in the Yokohama District Court.

Ugbogu is a a 23-year-old Nigerian citizen serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was found guilty of stabbing 61-year-old Masaaki Takahashi to death near a U.S. naval base in Yokosuka, south of Tokyo, in March 2008.
