Obama to visit Elkhart County

President Barack Obama will be in the Elkhart area on Wednesday, a White House official confirmed Thursday.

No other details of the president’s visit are available at this time, the official told The Elkhart Truth.

The visit will be the president’s fifth trip to the area in the last 15 months.

Obama first came to Elkhart in April 2008, two days before the Indiana primary, canvassing through the city's Bank Street neighborhood.

He held two town hall-style meetings at Concord High School, once in August as the Democratic presidential nominee and once in February as the 44th president. The February event was his first major trip outside of Washington since he was inaugurated.

The president’s most recent trip was to South Bend in May, where he delivered the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame, an appearance that angered some because of Obama's positions on abortion and stem cell research.
