It’s not often that you’ll find a cruise that visits New England, Canada, and Europe all in one swoop — especially one with a reasonable price tag. The luxury cruise line Fred Olsen has slashed rates on a one-time transatlantic cruise this fall that sails from New York City to Dover, England, with some unusual ports of call along the way. This 13-night odyssey is marked down to just $1,016 (originally $3,768) for a total savings of nearly 74 percent!
The elegant Balmoral sets sail on Oct. 23 and after giving passengers a chance to get used to their “sea legs” it will first call on Shelburne, Nova Scotia – one of Canada’s undiscovered gems. Wander through antique and gift shops or take a leisurely lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants before sailing on to Halifax. This lively port offers visitors numerous parks and hidden coves, in addition to numerous museums — including the Titanic exhibition.
After, the ship continues to Sydney followed by a stop in the tiny French-influenced town of St. Pierre. Next the ship sails on to St. John’s in Newfoundland where passengers can take a stroll along the water or have a pint in a classic Irish pub before making the four-day trek across the Atlantic. The journey continues after the ocean crossing with a visit to Cork, Ireland, which serves as an excellent place to pick up a few homemade souvenirs before reaching the final port of call in Dover.
All prices are per person and based on double occupancy. Accommodations, meals, some beverages, entertainment and port charges are covered in the cost. Government fees and taxes as well as off-boat expenditures are extra.
You'll need to make arrangements for a return flight.
