It was six years ago Lebanon native Craig Hutto lost his right leg in a shark attack in Florida.

He will graduate from MTSU in December and is working as part of a research team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He is testing a robotic leg that acts as a calf muscle and allows him to walk up stairs more easily.

Hutto said he wants to be able to help other amputees once he gets out of college.

Once he graduates from MTSU, he plans to earn a master's degree at Vanderbilt and become a nurse practitioner.
