Netflix knows you've done it — watched an entire season (or two or three) in a single weekend on Netflix.
After this year's Oscars, Netflix has launched a new site where you can vote for your favorite TV shows and movies in some decidedly unconventional categories, including Best TV Marathon, Best Bromance and Best PMS Drama.
Netflix allows people to binge on entertainment and, in fact, Netflix is fueling the trend. The company recently released all 13 episodes of its original series, "House of Cards," featuring Kevin Spacey as a conniving congressman in Washington. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings believes that making a full season of shows available immediately is ideal for viewers.
"We think the season is like the book and is the right unit," he said in an interview with an analyst from Morgan Stanley.
Best TV Marathon nominees from Netflix include "House of Cards," "Battlestar Galactica," "Breaking Bad" and " Mad Men ."
But binge-watching isn't the only streaming trend. People are also watching TV on their smartphones to fill gaps in their day. Netflix offers Best Commute "Shrtner" for those who occupy themselves with a quick episode of "MythBusters" or "Portlandia" (hopefully while riding, not driving).
And while frazzled parents have long used the TV as an electronic babysitter , they can ditch the VCR and lock onto Netflix for kids. (Now if only they could trust their toddlers with the remote.) Parents can vote for the most effective tantrum tamer such as "Curious George," "Pocahontas" and "The Muppet Movie."
Voting closes March 10.
Following is the full list of categories:
