Hillary Clinton made her first public appearance as potential 2016 presidential candidate last night. And she returned to a familiar theme–the empowerment of women around the world. Clinton’s speech wasn’t political, but it was hard not to think about politics and the possibility of a Clinton candidacy kicking off in the next year or two.. especially considering Vice President Joe Biden also spoke at the same event last night.

President Obama continues his push for gun safety today in Colorado, site of the Aurora movie theater shooting massacre.

Republican Mark Kirk of Illinois and Democrat Tom Carper of Delaware are the latest senators to endorse marriage equality. That means half the Senate now supports same-sex marriage.

Meanwhile Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas makes this incomprehensible point about the magazine capacity of guns and gay marriage.

And some Republicans are worried Sanford could blow the race in what should be a safe GOP seat.

Conservative legal scholars including Ken Starr (of Clinton impeachment fame) are urging the Republican Party to confirm President Obama’s latest nominee for the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. But with a long track record of opposing the president, and blocking his judicial nominees, will they comply?

Why is Sen. Rand Paul attacking his own party?
