"My relationship with Congress with never be the same again," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. "All I know is that there were people who were close to dying in my district, and people didn’t give a damn. That’s not something I’ll forget."

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., slammed his party for withholding aid after Hurricane Sandy devastated New York and New Jersey.

During the fiscal cliff showdown, Republican senators refused to approve the bill and delaying it for weeks.

“My relationship with Congress with never be the same again. They made us wait 90 to 100 days to give the most basic human aid—absolutely disgraceful,” King said. “All I know is that there were people who were close to dying in my district, and people didn’t give a damn. That’s not something I’ll forget. We gave them money 10 days after Katrina, you go back to all the disasters and the money was always there.”

He particularly slammed Marco Rubio for voting against the bill when Florida has often been a recipient of disaster aid. Host Joe Scarborough countered that many on the right believed the bill included superfluous spending.

“That’s the phoniest argument! First of all, 99% of that bill was directed to Sandy victim. Secondly, the bill in the House was drawn by the House leadership. We had nothing to do with that,” he said. “When I went on the House floor the night of January 1 and I said if there is one dollar here you want out, take it out. That was a game they were playing. Go home and say ‘were keeping the guys in New York and New Jersey from setting up slush funds. Chris Christie, how many of these guys used him to raise money for themselves and now they’re accusing him of trying to set up a slush fund?”
