Three children and two adults were killed in a fire that ripped through three Kentucky homes early Tuesday morning, the city’s mayor said.
The blaze started at 1 a.m. and consumed three multi-family homes, said Maysville Mayor David Cartmell. Three kids and a woman, all part of the same family, died; the other victim was a man who was a former service member, Cartmell said.
Two other buildings were damaged in the blaze, which was extinguished by daybreak, Cartmell said. About 30 people were displaced by the fire.
The fire was deemed accidental, Maysville Fire Chief Kevin Doyle told NBC affiliate WLWT.
Maysville is about 65 miles northeast of Lexington, Kentucky.
