Florida police have released video of an armed robber who they say apologetically held up a pizzeria last month, telling the clerk his "kids needed Christmas.'

Witnesses remarked on how polite the bandit was when he walked into the Little Caesars restaurant in Deerfield Beach, brandishing a semi-automatic handgun, on Dec. 9, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

Police said the man asked the worker to "please" open the safe. It was empty, so he asked her to open the registers. He then piled money from there into his backpack and fled.

"I'm sorry for doing this," he said, 'but my kids need Christmas."

Authorities are offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's capture.
