KABUL – Two women, two children and children and 10 militants were killed when a car packed with explosives detonated inside a Taliban 'safe house' in Afghanistan's Logar province Sunday.
A provincial police source told NBC News the blast happened when local security forces launched an operation at the site after being tipped off the presence of suicide bombers.
The militants inside the house returned fire on police, and the vehicle laden with explosives was then detonated, killing everyone inside the house.
The source said all 10 militants were planning a complex attack on the provincial governor's compound were killed in the explosion.
