Now you can “have it your way” lots more ways.
Burger King, the number-three burger chain, on Monday launched a lineup of snack wraps, chicken strips, smoothies and frappe coffee drinks, marking the fast-food restaurant’s biggest menu expansion in its 58-year history.
The more than a dozen new menu items have been introduced as Burger King moves away from junk food to respond to a growing desire among consumers for healthier food options.
Burger King’s menu has not changed along with its competitors, including McDonald’s and Wendy’s, which recently edged out Burger King as the nation’s number two burger chain. These fast-food chains have already changed their menus to attract new customers with breakfast items and healthier food.
Steve Wiborg, North America president of Burger King, said the menu changes were made in response to customers’ desire for a broader range of menu options to complement the restaurant’s fire-grilled burgers.
“This expanded menu gives consumers more choices,” Wiborg said. “We spent the last year analyzing every aspect of our business to better understand what our guests expect from the Burger King dining experience.”
