President Barack Obama arrived Thursday in St. Petersburg for the G-20 economic summit, although pending U.S. military action in Syria is likely to dominate the agenda.

During a press conference in Sweden on Wednesday, Obama said that punishing Syria for using chemical weapons was a matter of upholding the credibility of the world. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted to give Obama the power to launch an attack to punish Syria for using chemical weapons on Wednesday.

Obama is expected to privately try to persuade world leaders to support U.S.-led action in Syria – putting him at odds with the summit’s host, Russian President Vladimir Putin, a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

NBC News Chief White House Correspondent is traveling with the president and will host a live Twitter chat on Thursday at 11:15 a.m. ET to address topics ranging from Obama’s overseas trip to Syria and more.
