Go Mother's Day craft crazy with DIY upcycling

Things got a little nuts today when the ladies decided to celebrate Mother's Day by honoring mother earth. Upcycling expert Danny Seo brought by VHS tapes, crayons, and old road maps to create a thoughtful keepsake shadow box fit for a mom.

Watch the video for actual tips on making Mother's Day crafts. Seo takes old materials (you smash the VHS cassette, for example, to use the actual tape inside as a ribbon, and the old mags and maps are wrapping paper). Ignore the chaos that ensued.

Because Hoda can make anything into a competition, she and her mother Sami faced off against Sara and Kathie Lee (whose mamas couldn't make it), crafting against the clock. Both teams struggled with faulty glue guns and ribbon malfunctions, and eventually, Sara just started hammering at the cassette while Hoda haphazardly pasted some ribbon in dada-esque nonsense shapes.

No real winner was emerging, so Danny politely noted, "I think we're out of time."

Hoda was not having it. "JUST JUDGE IT!" she screamed, holding up a piece of art that only a mother could love.

Happy Mother's Day!
