This is how every government organization should tweet

A little while ago we giggled as the official White House Twitter account rickrolled a bored follower, but now we're laughing hysterically because we've discovered our new favorite government-related Twitter account with a sense of humor: The official account for Australia’s 2011 Census of Population and Housing.

Yes, you read that right. People — even public servants — who deal with statistics can be funny.

The individual (or individuals) running the account manage to make constant reminders about Census counts and forms entertaining by throwing in a handful of jokes, pop culture references, and social commentary into the mix.

There's naturally a downside to all this cleverness though. While it resulted in some laughs, it also led us to understand that there are not any hobbits in Australia. There are plenty of Jedi Knights, muggles, and Moroccan Chicken ... but no hobbits:

Since the Australian Census count begins in just a few days, we expect that this Twitter account will ramp up the jokes a bit very soon. But even so, we get that they won't all be winners:
