While in the middle of a British parliamentary committee hearing over the phone-hacking scandal that has swept the UK, News Corp. Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch was attacked by a man wielding what is believed to be a plate of shaving cream — a shaving cream pie, if you will.
The incident was quickly resolved: Murdoch's wife Wendi Deng jumped to his defense and tried to hit the attacker on his head, police dragged the man away, suspending the hearing temporarily.
But that's when the fun began.
Within minutes of the incident, the forces of the Internet got to work and uncovered the Twitter accounts of a man most believe to be the attacker as well as that of a woman who claims to be his ex-girlfriend.
The woman quickly locked down her Twitter account as soon as media attention turned her way, but the man's tweets are still visible to us all — right down to what would be his final tweet before the attack on Murdoch:
Based on the tweets leading up to the "#splat," the alleged attacker appears to have been present during the committee hearing and highly critical of the entire proceedings:
Jonnie Marbles, as the alleged attacker's Twitter account labels him, is self-described as an "activist, comedian, father figure and all-round nonsense." He has not tweeted since the time of the Murdoch shaving cream pie attack.
