New TomTom GPS automatically tweets where you're going

TomTom

The new TomTom GO LIVE 1535M GPS device sounds pretty great. It has a large five-inch display, supports voice recognition, offers lifetime map updates, and has a bunch of travel apps which will let you read restaurant reviews, check hotel availability, and automatically tweet your destinations.

Wait ... what?

We're a bit confused about what TomTom was thinking when it decided to offer Twitter support on the GO LIVE 1535 M.

As TechCrunch points out, the app included doesn't actually work like a normal Twitter app — as in, you can't actually use it to read tweets. Instead all it does is automatically tweet your destinations, scheduled arrival times, and actual arrivals.

I can't really say that I'd choose to allow a device to do such a thing automatically. (Just imagine how awkward things could get when you forgot that the feature was toggled on and needed directions to the adult video store!)

If you're into that sort of thing though — auto-tweeting locations, I mean — then know that the TomTom GO LIVE 1535 M will be available in October for $249. (A 12-month subscription to TomTom's LIVE services is included in that price.)
