Obama agenda: Veto threat

President Obama reiterated his veto threat through his budget office, saying the House CR amendments "advance a narrow ideological agenda and threaten the Nation’s economy." Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) rejected the House bill yesterday, saying, "The American people will not be extorted by Tea Party anarchists.”

But Republicans see this as their last chance to shine a bright light on “Obamacare.”

Quotable: How about this quote from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbot (R), running for governor of Texas: “Without voter fraud, Obamacare would not exist,” Abbott said.

NBC News: "The White House says despite watching Congress careen toward a government shutdown, it isn't making President Barack Obamareconsider ways to sidestep Congress on the debt ceiling. 'Only Congress can raise the debt limit. Period,' a White House official told First Read. 'We have said coin and 14th Amendment aren't workable.'"

CNN poll “conducted Friday through Sunday, 46% say they would blame congressional Republicans for a government shutdown, with 36% saying the president would be more responsible and 13% pointing fingers at both the GOP in Congress and Obama.”
