Actress Rosie Perez's future as a co-host on ABC's "The View" is in doubt a mere four months after joining the show.

Perez plans to leave "The View" during its 18th season following a month of performing on Broadway, Variety reported Wednesday. But in a statement to NBC News, the network said Perez is "currently in rehearsal for her Broadway play for the month of January. Her status with the show has not changed."

Perez was selected in September as a new co-host along with George W. Bush’s former communications chief Nicolle Wallace. A month later, the show which is also co-hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, was moved from ABC's entertainment unit under ABC News.
