The mayor of the town targeted by one of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's top aides in the ongoing George Washington Bridge scandal will be attending the State of the Union address.

Fort Lee mayor Mark Sokolich will be a guest of Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., the Bergen Record reports.

Christie personally apologized to Sokolich after emails revealed that the closure of lanes on the bridge was orchestrated by a top Christie aide and Port Authority appointee. Christie fired two aides after the revelations.

Sokolich, a Democrat, said that Fort Lee was targeted for traffic problems because he failed to endorse Christie’s bid for re-election.
