A migrant died after being found unconscious aboard a freight train on the high-speed Paris to London rail line, authorities said Friday.

The Britain-bound train was forced to stop shortly after departing the French port of Calais late Thursday “due to the presence of a number of migrants on the tracks,” Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, the company which operates freight services on the line, said in a statement.

“When the Shuttle was searched, a number of migrants were found on board [including] one unconscious and one injured,” they said. “The Emergency Services were called and immediately took them into their care.”

French authorities later confirmed that one of the migrants had died, they said. They did not elaborate on the cause of death.

High-speed Eurostar passenger services between Britain and France have been disrupted in recent weeks because of refugees and migrants attempting to climb on board trains in order to reach the U.K.

In July, Eurostar said that more than 37,000 migrants have been blocked from illegally crossing from France into England in the first seven months of this year.
