Prepared to be 'Dishonored' on October 9

Dishonored
Bethesda

The publisher of "Fallout" and "Elder Scroll" will be unleashing their latest, a brand new property, later this year. "Dishonored" by Arkane Studios has been described as a "supernatural assassin action game," and is due for arrival on October 9, 2012.

"Dishonored" has the player assuming the mantle of Corvo, a  royal guard who has been accused of assassinating the Empress of The Isles, whom he was sworn to protect.

The goal is to uncover the truth and take down the corrupt Lord Regent, who is the one responsible for the murder. In addition to being proficient in all manner of blades and firearms, Corve is a master of stealth and has supernatural powers at his disposal.

The game is played from a first person perspective and offers an open world format, which promises the ability to tackle challenges in a variety of fashions.

It's been described by some as a combination of "BioShock" and "Assassin's Creed," along with elements of "Thief" and "Deus Ex." This is due primarily to the fact that some of people behind those games are also involved.

Lead designer Harvey Smith is mostly known for his work on "Deus Ex" franchise, and Arkane's founder/co-creative director Raf Colantonio worked on "Arx Fatalis" and "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic." Art director Viktor Antonov also helped to shape the look of "Half-Life 2."

Previous to "Dishonored," Arkane produced "BioShock 2." Bethesda states that the game will not only be present at E3 next month, but will be playable as well.
