Tumblr quietly hit a milestone recently. The blogging platform now has over 100 million blogs, which have produced over 44.6 billion posts.
The milestone might've been hit without much notice if some folks —such as the Next Web's Matthew Panzarino— hadn't been carefully watching the ticker on Tumblr's "About" page. (We'll assume that everyone else was too distracted by the 80.2 million new Tumblr posts produced each day to actually watch this page.)Those keeping notes on statisticsmight recall that it has been almost exactly one year since Tumblr hit the 20-billion-post mark. At that time, there were nearly 50 million blogs.
We have reached out to Tumblr to see how many active users all these blogs and blog posts translate into. In the meantime, we do know that Twitter has over 200 million users who generate over 400 million tweets per day. Facebook, that social networking giant, has over a billion folks eagerly staring at the ever-changing News Feed. And Google+, the youngster of the bunch, has racked up 135 million active users since launching in mid-2011.
