A juvenile has been arrested and will be charged along with Steven Avery in the death of photographer Teresa Halbach, authorities said Wednesday night.

Investigators took the 16-year-old boy, a relative of Avery, into custody on the basis of physical evidence found in continuing searches, as well as his own statements, officials said.

Calumet County Sheriff Jerry Pagel told reporters that investigators have always considered the possibility that more than just Avery might have been involved in the murder of Halbach and disposal of her body.

Halbach, 25, disappeared after going to the Avery family's auto salvage yard near Mishicot on Oct. 31. Bone fragments and teeth found in a burn pit were later determined to be a DNA match for the woman.

Avery served 18 years in prison for rape before DNA evidence cleared him of the crime and he was released in 2003.

Calumet County District Attorney Ken Kratz said more information would be released when the teen is charged in Circuit Court on Thursday. His initial court appearance is scheduled Friday in Chilton.
