The deal
Sailings along the Mexican Riviera are absolutely stunning but usually priced pretty high due to the area’s eternal sunshine and pleasant climate. If you hold off until spring, you can save some serious dollars with the early-bird deals we found. Savings run as high as 72 percent and prices drop to as low as $499.

Spring sailing aboard Carnival Spirit
For a seven-night Mexican Riviera sailing that departs on two April dates round-trip from San Diego, book the CruisesOnly special we found. This weeklong odyssey aboard Carnival Spirit is now discounted by a whopping 72 percent! Inside cabins are selling for just $499, as opposed to the brochure price of $1,769. The ship departs on two dates — April 3 and 16 — en route visiting Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and La Paz. Three days at sea are also part of the itinerary. Outside staterooms are reduced in price, too, now going for $619. Balconied units cost just $659.

Holland America cruise from in April
Another terrific spring option at a discount comes from Orbitz, for an eight-night Mexican Riviera sailing with Holland America. On April 25, the upscale Ryndam hits high seas round-trip from San Diego. The stellar savings on this cruise rise to 49 percent off the brochure price! Indeed, inside cabins now sell for $499; oceanview staterooms go for just $100 more. The itinerary covers visits to all the same stops as the Carnival sailing above, plus Puerto Vallarta and three full days at sea. Balconied units are selling for $1,499.

Disney voyage in June at a discount
If you want to depart in late spring, Vacation Outlet has a stellar offer for a seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise with Disney. You can save $550 off the advertised price if you book an interior cabin on this journey that departs round-trip from Los Angeles. These units now sell for $1,449 (as opposed to $1,999); oceanview staterooms go for $2,009. Ports of call include Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. Three days at sea are part of the circuit, too. The ship has four scheduled departures at this price — June 1, 8, 15 and 29.

The dollars
The rates above are listed per person, based on double occupancy. The cost covers onboard accommodations, meals and entertainment, as well as port charges. You’ll just have to dish out extra for government taxes and fees, as well as any shore excursions you may decide to take.

The catch
You’ll have to sit tight for the rest of the winter.
