Rwanda's High Court has ruled that an opposition leader charged with forming a terrorist organization will remain jailed until her case is concluded.
Judge Johnstone Busingyi says Friday's decision is based on evidence that Victoire Ingabire is involved in activities threatening state security.
His ruling follows an appeal Ingabire's lawyers made against a lower court's decision to deny her bail for 30 days. Ingabire was charged in October with forming a terrorist organization. Human rights groups accuse the Rwandan government of using allegations of terrorism to stifle opposition.
Ingabire returned to Rwanda in January after 16 years to challenge President Paul Kagame. Kagame was re-elected in an August vote, and Ingabire was barred from contesting the poll.
