PAHOKEE, Fla., June 8, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Anquan Boldin Foundation (Q81 Foundation) and Florida Crystals Corporation will launch the much-anticipated Q81 Summer Enrichment Program, beginning on June 13, 2011. Students at Everglades Preparatory Academy grades 9-12 who need courses to catch up academically are encouraged to do so through classroom, computer-based credit recovery courses followed by daily recreational activities – all free for students.

The participating teenagers will have the opportunity to select one or both of the four-week sessions depending on their need. Following the morning credit-recovery curriculum, students will have a variety of activities, including popular guest speakers, classroom discussions incorporating local agency services and exciting field trips that will take the youth outside of Pahokee with travel throughout Florida. Additionally the students will be provided with both breakfast and lunch through the Summer Food Service Program and Palm Beach County School District. Organizations participating during the Q81 Summer Enrichment Program, include the Teen Time® program of Planned Parenthood of South Florida & the Treasure Coast (PPSFTC), The Center for Technology, Enterprise & Development, INC (TED Center), YMCA Indiantown, Florida Partnership to End Childhood Hunger and the Palm Beach County Public Library.

"This program is a milestone for our Foundation's efforts to expand the afterschool programming for middle school and high school students," says Anquan Boldin, Pro Bowl receiver from the Baltimore Ravens and Founder of the Anquan Boldin Foundation. "As a native of Pahokee, I'm excited that we're giving the community more quality opportunities for our youth."

"Everglades Preparatory Academy strives to provide its students with the most comprehensive and quality educational opportunities possible," said Emilia Fanjul, founder and chairwoman of the board of Everglades Prep. "We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the Anquan Boldin Foundation and Florida Crystals to offer unique summer enrichment courses to our high school students, free of charge."

Free Football Camp:  Additionally, Anquan Boldin will host a free, skills football camp on June 24-25 and is inviting all Palm Beach County middle and high school athletes to participate. June 24 will be specific skills for middle school and June 25 for high school athletes. This camp will feature both current and retired players – some of the best athletes to play in the NFL and who have ties to the Glades area. This is also an open-invitation for coaches to come out and help make a difference in the lives of Palm Beach County's young men. More information can be found by visiting www.anquanQ81foundation.com.

The collaboration between the Anquan Boldin Foundation and Florida Crystals, a Palm Beach County-based sugar producer, was established in April of this year to support the educational and developmental programs for youth and families in the tri-cities of western Palm Beach County, where the sugar company has a majority of its Florida operations.
