Michigan police are still looking for suspects and soliciting tips in the murder of 14-year-old April Millsap, who relatives say sent a chilling text message moments before she was killed in the woods. State police Lt. Mike Shaw told Detroit’s WWJ-AM on Thursday that the hunt is ongoing even after the arrests of two men Wednesday whose home was searched in connection to Millsap’s death. The men were apprehended on separate drug charges after more than a dozen marijuana plants were found at the rural Wales Township home, reported NBC affiliate WDIV. An FBI spokesman declined to say whether police were also interviewing the two men about the murder or if they're considered persons of interest.

The beaten body of Millsap was found by joggers on the night of July 24 near a trail where she was walking her border collie, family and police said. The dog was still with her when police arrived. In addition, a message that purportedly said, “OMG. … I think I’m being kidnapped,” was reportedly sent from Millsap’s cellphone to her boyfriend, according to a relative. Police, however, wouldn’t confirm the message’s contents nor say how she was killed.

A viewing for Millsap was planned for Thursday afternoon, with a funeral scheduled for Friday. Police have released a sketch of a possible person of interest. Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call the Michigan State Police tip line at 877-616-4677.
