LONDON — A masked burglar carried out an audacious raid reminiscent of "Mission Impossible" and escaped with almost $300,000 in pocket watches.

After scaling the roof of a London antiques market, the culprit broke through a vent to enter the building late Saturday.

He then slithered along the floor before entering a unit belonging to watch dealer Simon Drachman and grabbed 124 rare timepieces.

"Clearly they knew what they were after," he said. "Because there were a number of other expensive watches that the thief left alone. I don't think it is at all random."

The burglar appears to let his guard down and later is caught on surveillance video crawling on the floor before standing up and walking out.

"He had hooded sweater and a balaclava underneath and he was probably crawling in a bid to prevent his face from being shown," said Drachman.

No arrests have been made, according to London's Metropolitan Police.
