WASHINGTON — D.C. police and rescue personnel are responding to calls for several people injured — possibly trampled — at the gates of Howard University Friday afternoon as the university's homecoming festivities began.
Just after 3 p.m. Friday, several people tried to rush a gate to the homecoming concert YardFest, at 6th Street NW and Howard Place. Police were called to the scene when people from the other side of the gate pushed back and several individuals were injured.
According to police, at least five individuals were injured, as well as two officers who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
