One of the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted surrendered in Mexico and has been returned to authorities in Louisiana, the bureau said. Jose Manuel Garcia Guevara, who is accused of raping a 26-year-old woman and stabbing her to death in front of her 4-year-old stepson in 2008, will await arraignment on state charges.
Guevara was added to the Most Wanted list in June 2013. He is accused of breaking into the home of the woman, Wanda Barton, who lived in the same mobile home park. Of the 502 fugitives put on the list since it was established in 1950, 471 have been caught, the FBI said.
