Bombings in two Iraqi cities left at least 30 people dead on Saturday, a day after 60 were killed in an attack on a Sunni mosque. Six civilians and five security personnel were killed in Baghdad when a suicide bomber drove an explosives-rigged car into the gate of the capital's intelligence headquarters, according to police and medical personnel. Nineteen more people were killed, and 112 were wounded when three bombs exploded in the northern city of Kirkuk, deputy police chief Tarhan Abdel-Rahman told The Associated Press.
The attacks followed Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri's remarks that investigators were probing how armed men opened fire in a mosque in Diyala that killed 60 Sunni Muslims after Friday's prayers. It is unclear whether the violence was carried out by Shiite militia or ISIS insurgents who have been known to kill fellow Sunni Muslims for not strictly following Sharia law. The U.S., meanwhile, continued its airstrikes to slow down ISIS, hitting one of its vehicles near the Mosul Dam on Saturday, U.S. Central Command said.
