Nearly 800,000 people watched as President Obama was sworn into his second term of office in front of the U.S. Capitol on Monday, but one of the hottest tickets in town was a seat on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

Among the noted guests were former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a number of senators and representatives, cabinet members and Supreme Court Justices.

However, several notable guests were missing, including former President George H.W. Bush who was recently released from a Texas hospital, his son former President George W. Bush, and Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki, who is the designated successor and did not attend Monday’s inaugural activities.

Also on the Capitol steps were musicians Kelly Clarkson, James Taylor, and Beyonce who all sang during the inaugural ceremonies.
