An 8-year-old boy was bitten on the hands and arms by a 4-foot shark while swimming with his father, authorities said.
The boy, who is from Kentucky but was not identified, was hospitalized in good condition. He was swimming in 3 to 4 feet of ocean water with his father when the shark swam between them shortly before the attack Thursday, said police Sgt. Mike Fowler.
The boy’s left hand and part of his left arm were inside the shark’s mouth, and he suffered cuts on both hands, Fowler said.
Daytona Beach shores is just south of Daytona Beach on Florida’s central Atlantic coast.
