Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, the son of Vice President Joe Biden, is undergoing medical tests in Houston, Texas, after being hospitalized last week.

"Beau Biden is being evaluated to determine the cause of an episode of disorientation and weakness that he experienced while on vacation with his family," the White House said in a statement.

Beau Biden was admitted to Northwestern University Hospital, in Chicago, Wednesday night after experiencing the symptoms following a drive to Indiana for a family vacation, according to a statement from the Delaware Department of Justice.

After feeling better the next morning he then went to Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia where he consulted with his doctor about his symptoms, the statement said.

Beau Biden spent the weekend at home in Wilmington, Del., after being discharged from the Philadelphia hospital.

On Monday morning, Vice President Joe Biden accompanied his son to Houston for the tests to determine what might have caused the episode last week, according to the White House.

Beau Biden, 44, the eldest son of the vice president, was hospitalized in 2010 for what doctors described as a mild stroke.
