An angry husband fatally shot a friend after discovering him with his wife in their home, police said.

Authorities found Rickey L. Crager, 57, lying dead on the front porch after a receiving a report of a disturbance at the residence in Chesapeake, Ohio, at about 10 p.m. Friday, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

The responding deputies then observed the suspect holding a handgun inside the house. William K. Elkins Sr., 53, was eventually taken into custody after trying to retreat, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Officials allege Elkins shot his friend Crager twice in the chest with a small-caliber handgun.

Elkins is facing aggravated murder charges. He was expected to be arraigned on Monday.
